Filipinos manuever the flooded area caused by Storm Ketsana in Cainta suburbs, Rizal province, eastern Manila, Philippines on 27 September 2009. At least 80 people were killed as tropical storm Ketsana battered a wide area in the Philippines, dumping record rainfall on the capital that caused the worst flooding in 40 years, officials said Sunday. At least 21 people were missing in floods and landslides, according to Defence Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, who also heads the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDDC). Authorities rushed rescue and relief to thousands of people who spent the night on the roofs of submerged houses in Manila and surrounding provinces. Some were trapped in their cars on flooded streets. EPA/DENNIS M. SABANGAN
